I’ve redesigned the site to be more uniform. Better header links are to come, but in the meantime, the genealogy portion now looks like it belongs with the blog. I’ve also changed the way I set the site up, which I think has improved load time considerably.
I’ve decided to start sourcing photos where I can, in an effort to keep track of where I’ve found them. Most of them have been either sent to me or were scanned from source books I’ve been working from. For instance, now you can see every photo I’ve scanned from The Kaiser Family Tree (1840-1994) or ever photo that was sent to me by Duane Van Anne. It’s always good to source as much as you can, especially since this site tends to generate a lot of e-mails and it gets harder to track where I got what from who!
There’s also a handy new feature from TNG that allows me to create image maps for images, allowing the user to click on a person’s face and go directly to their main information page. So now, not only can you go by my general descriptions of a given photo and the “Linked to” options on the bottom of the photo, you can click on a specific person directly. Of course, I can’t image map EVERY person in my photo collection, because I don’t necessarily recognize who-is-who, but for the most part I have been able to take advantage of this new feature. Check out this great photo of James Kirkness and family and click on a face to see how it works!
